Lisa Spencer
Lisa Spencer is a children’s book author and an award-winning broadcast meteorologist at WSMV-TV in Nashville, where she has led the WSMV4 Weather Team for the past 24 years. She is known for her calm voice during the storm and her bright smile on sunny days. Lisa is a teacher favorite in Middle Tennessee, speaking to hundreds of school children each year about the weather. Now, she has combined her meteorological expertise and a gift for sharing science with children in a simple way into her first book, “How Do Meteorologist Predict the Future: A science book about meteorology”.
A book about natural disasters will follow up the first book for Flower Pot Press set to be published next year. It will be her second in their series of “How do…” science books.
But next to hit the book shelves is Lisa’s passion project that blends her love of dogs and weather in a fun story that features her rescues dogs as the main characters, “The Wonder Dogs: Caught in a Thunderstorms”. This will be the first in a series of adventures for the Wonder Dogs exploring different weather topics.

She was recently an invited guest speaker at the Tennessee Association of School Librarians.
Lisa has won 10 Regional Emmy Awards for her weather coverage and has been named Best Weather Anchor 5 times by the Tennessee Associated Press. She is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist with the American Meteorological Society and has received the Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association. In addition, she serves on the board of Book’em, a service organization the provides books to children in need.
Lisa is married to her college sweetheart, Brady and they have two grown children, Nick and Ali and two dogs, Lyla and Lilly Belle.
