Kara LaReau

Kara LaReau has worn many hats. She’s worked as a music and drama summer camp instructor and as a children’s book editor. She’s worked as a copywriter, writing about everything from office furniture to flu vaccines to wildlife conservation. She’s worked as a narrative designer for toy and game companies, writing rules, content and package copy.

Kara’s favorite hat is the one she wears as an award-winning children’s book author. She writes all kinds of books for all kinds of kids: picture books such as Ugly Fish, illustrated by Scott Magoon, and Baby Clown, illustrated by Matthew Cordell; chapter book series such as the Geisel Honor-winning The Infamous Ratsos, illustrated by Matt Myers; and middle grade novels such as The Unintentional Adventures of the Bland Sisters trilogy, illustrated by Jen Hill, and the ZomBert Chronicles, illustrated by Ryan Andrews.

Kara lives in Providence, Rhode Island with her husband and daughter and their cats.
